Patient Funded ~ Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy

7/20/2024
With Rennovations under way for a new and improved clinic space with adding over 3,000 square feet and soon to be bigger exam rooms……what will we do with the current 2 rooms we have been using for these last 4-6 years ?????

Well…… how about a
Picture
Wellness Suite!!!!!!
….. with a Patient Provided HyperBaric Oxygen Therapy Unit & InfraRed Halo Therapy Suite

Thrive Direct Health Care Clinic is expanding and will be offering a wellness suite soon with services such as halotherapy (salt room for lung and skin support) with infrared light/sauna therapy. We have had requests from multiple patients to add a Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) unit and would love to deliver this service, but need a little help financially to make this happen.

Read and review the following background information and benefits of HBOT then decide if you’d like to contribute a donation and receive either a discount or free use of these devices with a contribution. You would be basically prepaying for your services with some bonus sessions added on. With a patient led fundraiser you can help make this service affordable for all persons who will use this amazing technology.

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) has been used to successfully treat or manage a wide range of illnesses, injuries and diseases.

What is Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT)?
Hyperbaric oxygen therapy involves breathing 100% pure oxygen in a pressurized chamber that can hold anywhere between 1-3 people and ours will be wheelchair accessible. During a session, you sit inside this sealed chamber while the pressure inside is gradually increased, allowing your body to take in a significantly higher concentration of oxygen than normal atmospheric conditions, which is approximately only 20%.

This extra oxygen helps fight bacteria. It also triggers the release of substances called growth factors and stem cells, which promote healing.
HBOT allows oxygen to reach areas with low blood-flow caused by inflammation, injury or disease and stimulates the body’s natural healing ability.

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy reduces swelling and inflammation, helps your body eliminate waste and toxins, promotes new blood vessel growth (angiogenesis), increases your body's ability to fight infection and illness, and delivers oxygen to deprived areas of the body and the brain.

HBOT encourages the formation of new collagen and new skin cells. It does so by encouraging new blood vessels to grow. It also stimulates cells to make certain substances, like vascular endothelial growth factor. These attract and stimulate endothelial cells needed for healing.

Benefits of hyperbaric oxygen therapy
While research is continuing to learn more about hyperbaric oxygen therapy, these are the conditions that are supported by the largest body of clinical research and have shown the most improvement through HBOT.

1. Supports wound healing
Most of the studies surrounding wound healing and HBOT are in relation to diabetic ulcers, non-healing wounds, and burns. For example, a recent study published in the journal Advances In Skin and Wound Care (2) found that out of the total number of individuals with non-healing wounds that participated in regular HBOT sessions, 61% experienced total wound healing and 22% experienced at least partial healing. Hyperbaric oxygen therapy has also been found in other studies (3) to have powerful antimicrobial effects and can even increase the effectiveness of certain antibiotics that can positively influence wound healing.

2. Improves cognitive function
Hyperbaric oxygen therapy has shown a lot of promise for supporting a variety of neurological conditions like traumatic brain injury, (4) stroke, (5) and multiple sclerosis (6) due to its role in lowering oxidative stress and reducing inflammation in the brain.

3. Enhances recovery
Athletes and fitness enthusiasts alike have been flocking to hyperbaric oxygen therapy to improve performance for its ability to alleviate pain and enhance (7) post-exercise recovery from muscular injuries.

4. Alleviates chronic pain
Multiple studies have shown the positive impact of HBOT on chronic pain related conditions including fibromyalgia. One 2023 clinical review (8) of 9 studies found that hyperbaric oxygen therapy was able to improve overall pain levels, tender areas, and associated symptoms like sleep disturbances and fatigue in those with this autoimmune condition.

5. Boosts immune function
Even though the exact mechanisms behind hyperbaric oxygen therapy and immune function are still being studied, HBOT has next-level antiviral properties and is believed to help improve the function of white blood cells - the primary cells of your immune system responsible for helping your body fight off infections. In fact, new research is currently being done on HBOT for COVID-19 (9) and HIV/AIDS. (10)

Some conditions that hyperbaric oxygen therapy can benefit:
HBOT treatments can benefit several conditions, including:
  • Embolisms (air or gas bubbles in the blood vessels)
  • Carbon monoxide poisoning
  • Gangrene
  • Hearing and vision loss
  • Skin grafts and other wound healing
  • Lyme disease
  • Cancer
  • Correct genetic markers (Epigenetics)
  • Detoxify organs and tissues
  • Reduce recovery times from injuries and surgical procedures
HBOT has also shown promise as a supportive treatment for stroke, autism, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, fibromyalgia and more. As a wellness tool, it can also benefit athletes seeking faster recovery from injuries, fatigue and soreness.

Requirements and contraindications
Clients will be required to have a consultation with a practitioner before doing the HOBOT therapy to make sure they are a good candidate for HBOT. Although hyperbaric oxygen therapy is generally safe for most people, with little to no series side effects, the elevated pressure and high oxygen levels can lead to complications for some individuals, including:
  • Middle ear injuries (if they have inner ear issues, they may be disqualified from doing HBOT therapy)
  • Ear and sinus pain
  • Vision changes
  • Collapsed lungs
  • Oxygen toxicity

Early Cancer Detection

7/19/2021
The sooner that cancer is detected, the higher the chances of successful treatment, which can mean higher survival rates. Yet, too often cancer goes undetected and is only discovered in its late stages when treatment options are limited. Most cancers do not have recommended screening methods.

We are proud to now offer the Galleri™ Multi-Cancer Early Detection Test in addition to your routine screening tests. This simple blood test is recommended for use in adults with an elevated risk of cancer, such as those aged 50 or older. The Galleri test predicts the cancer signal origin with high accuracy, which in turn can inform next steps to diagnosis.

Key features of the Galleri Multi-Cancer Early Detection Test include:
  • Can identify more than 50 types of cancer through a simple blood draw
  • Has a very low false-positive rate of just 0.5%
  • Predicts cancer signal of origin to help direct next steps in diagnostic work-up

I am thrilled to be now offering the Galleri test to you in addition to guideline-recommended cancer screening to help improve the chances of early cancer detection. The test is not currently yet covered by insurance or membership. You will receive a separate bill of $949 should you decide that you're wanting to be tested.

If you have cancer concerns and want to discuss the Galleri test, please let me know.We can arrange a brief office visit or call. For important safety information, visit www.galleri.com.

For better health,

Affordable Mental Health Counseling now offered!!

1/15/2021
Mental Health is such a vital part of holistic medical management and in times such as these access to a counselor is beneficial. The average patient may need to contact up to 6 counselors before finding one that is in network, has openings and meets their needs....the likelihood of finding all at once is rare.

Thrive Direct Health Care has partnered with Skagit Counseling Center in Mount Vernon, WA to provide affordable mental health counseling services to youth, teens and adults. The greatest savings is with a Thrive Direct membership but a referral will also provide some savings. A superbill can also be provided-upon request-for patients to self-submit a claim for reimbursement from their insurance carrier.
Update March/April 2024 — these rates are no longer offered. Due to need for expansion and adding 3000 sq feet we have a temporary hold on these prices. See website page for mental health for current prices.

Zion Health Partnership Gives Members More Options and More Coverage

5/6/2020
Picture

It seems costs for medical needs increase daily. Americans spend more money on healthcare than any other country in the world, and yet, we are still struggling.

As a Direct Primary Care provider, I’ve seen firsthand the struggle patients go through to get the care they need. Insurance companies are often unaware of the benefits of alternative therapies, and thus unlikely to participate in them. Even when those therapies cost less and are more effective than conventional ones. Coverage varies from company to company and plan to plan, resulting in a confusing, tangled network of care. And should your personal convictions not mesh well with standard Western Medicine, you’ll often find yourself out of luck and frustrated by the lack of options and support.

This is why I don’t work with insurance companies. And this is why I offer memberships for care through my clinic, Thrive Direct Health Care.

But what about the times when you need care outside of what a DPC Membership offers? A surgery, coverage for the birth of a child, physical therapy, or a hospitalization for illness?

This is where a health share can fill the gap, and I am proud to partner with Zion Health to offer reduced membership rates through Thrive Direct Healthcare.

Zion Health is NOT insurance. It is a non-profit, membership based method for sharing medical costs. Memberships start at just $189/month for individuals, and $159/month when subscribed in conjunction with your DPC Membership.

Memberships for families, no matter the size, start at $641/month, and $427/month when subscribed to in conjunction with your DPC Membership.

Benefits of Zion Health Include:
  • No Annual or Lifetime Limit to Medical Expenses.
  • Needs are processed within 3-5 business days.
  • Worldwide access to care.
  • The ability to work with ANY provider, hospital, or facility, without network restrictions.
  • Coverage for alternative therapies.
  • Medical cost sharing for unexpected major medical expenses.
  • No denial for enrollment based on a pre-existing condition.
  • A great benefit for Small Businesses to offer to employees, when paired with a membership to Thrive.

When insurance coverage has become unrealistic for so many individuals and families, alternatives like Zion Health offer a practical, affordable solution.
